Fagor Automation drives diversification and advanced technology

The Arrasate-based cooperative implements a new strategy to expand into high-value-added markets and address global uncertainty.

Fagor Automation, headquartered in Arrasate, is reinforcing its strategy of diversification and incorporating new technologies to navigate global uncertainty and expand into new industrial markets.

The cooperative Fagor Automation, based in Arrasate, has launched a new strategy focused on diversification as a key driver to confront global uncertainty and maintain its leadership in automation and control systems for advanced industries.
José Pérez Berdud, the outgoing general director, and Aitor Etxebeste, the incoming director, guided representatives from the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, including the General Deputy Eider Mendoza and the Deputy for Economic Promotion Unai Andueza, during a visit to their facilities. This visit aligns with the council's commitment to supporting the territory's business fabric.
The cooperative has introduced a new business line called Smart Encoder Systems (SES), targeting high-tech environments that demand "extreme precision at high speeds," robustness, advanced connectivity, and high repeatability in production.
This new venture, building on the cooperative's strong ties to machine tools within the Mondragon Group, allows it to enter new sectors such as semiconductors, circuit assembly, industrial metrology, and high-precision motion systems. As explained by Berdud and Etxebeste, this move intensifies its internationalization process.
Currently, Fagor Automation operates in 50 countries, with four international production plants and a commercial network comprising 12 delegations, supported by over 30 own offices and approximately 40 distributors.
The commitment to diversification and technological integration not only solidifies the company's leadership and competitiveness in a challenging economic landscape but also contributes to the transformation of industry, both in Gipuzkoa and elsewhere, towards more advanced automation and digitalization systems.
Eider Mendoza, the General Deputy of Gipuzkoa, highlighted how innovation empowers Gipuzkoan companies to "grow and adapt to highly demanding global markets." She emphasized the cooperative's capacity to generate new business opportunities and enhance competitiveness, all within the framework of the cooperative business model deeply rooted in Gipuzkoa.
José Pérez Berdud, the outgoing general director, added to this focus on diversification the company's ongoing effort to remain close to its customers and effectively respond to "their most demanding requirements."
