Sunny and warm weather has led to the Bergara swimming pool being crowded since last Friday, when the bathing season began. Iñaki Ugarteburu, head of the Bergara City Council's Sports Service, explained that most people visit in the afternoons during the week, and all day on weekends. "We've reached maximum capacity at times and had to limit entry, but it's rewarding to see people enjoying themselves," he stated.
Summer is the busiest season for sports facilities. In Bergara, summer courses will start next week, with a large turnout expected until mid-July. Arrasate's outdoor pools in Musakola also opened on June 12th. Escoriaza will open its outdoor facilities on July 2nd, and in Oñati, the lifeguard service at Usako will commence this Friday.
Except for Elgeta and Leintz Gatzaga, most towns have activated their water fountain parks. In Aretxabaleta, the new park in the Markole neighborhood was inaugurated during the May heatwave. Antzuola's Sagasti park has been operational since June 8th, and in Aramaio, it opened last Friday. In Aramaio, the park will be open from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM on school days, and from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM on weekends and non-school days.
Water fountain parks are also ready in the larger municipalities. In Arrasate, the parks at Villa Amparo and Santa Bárbara opened last week. Bergara's Labegaraieta park opened in May, and in Oñati, the San Lorenzo park is available. In Escoriaza, the fountains are activated in the afternoons at Santa Marina.
Additionally, the Uxarte swimming pools in Arrasate are also open. To mitigate traffic congestion on summer weekends, the Arrasate City Council will introduce a bus service starting this Friday, with departures every hour from the San Francisco station.
