Bergara will celebrate its first Wolfram Day on September 28, an event organized by the Laboratorium Museoa and the Bergara City Council. The initiative aims to commemorate the isolation of wolfram in Bergara and to highlight the town's scientific heritage, bringing it closer to its citizens.
The program includes free guided tours in the morning at the Laboratorium Museoa, where visitors can explore the museum's permanent exhibition and the temporary exhibition "W74: reason, power and future". These tours will take place at 10:15 AM and 11:00 AM, and pre-registration is required.
At noon, in the Seminarixoa, the Bergara Ambassador Award for Science and Innovation will be presented to Jesús Mari Ugalde Uribe-Etxebarria. This award is being given for the first time to recognize the contributions of notable individuals from Bergara.
Following this, a new mural dedicated to the discovery of wolfram will be inaugurated in the porticos of the Seminarixoa, created by artists Jokin Oregi Sortwo and Mikel Larrañaga Remak. This mural aims to remind people of Bergara's significance in the history of science.
Gorka Artola, Mayor of Bergara, emphasized that the event looks to both the past and the future, highlighting the importance of science, knowledge, and innovation.
Rosa Errazkin, Director of the Laboratorium Museoa, added that the day aims to be a meeting point for sharing knowledge and strengthening the connection between science and society, with aspirations to become an annual event.
The main events will commence at 12:00 PM in the Seminarixoa, with free admission for all attendees.
