Euskalmet has activated a yellow alert in Debagoiena due to persistent high temperatures and the risk of forest fires, particularly in areas bordering Álava.

Today's forecast indicates temperatures around 35 degrees in the interior, while coastal areas are expected to reach approximately 29 degrees. From 18:00 onwards, the arrival of northern winds is expected to lower temperatures, although nighttime minimums will remain around 18 degrees.
High temperatures were recorded across the region at midday. Arrasate reached 36.8 degrees, Oñati 35.5 degrees, Urkulu (Aretxabaleta) 34.5 degrees, and Ariola (Elgeta) 34 degrees. Persistent heat is expected to continue throughout the coming days.
Regarding the risk of forest fires, a yellow alert is in effect for Thursday and Friday. The risk level is high in Araba and significant in Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia, driven by southern winds.
Health authorities have issued recommendations to prevent dehydration, such as drinking fluids frequently, avoiding caffeinated or alcoholic beverages, and increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables. They also advise avoiding sun exposure during peak hours and scheduling physical activities for the late afternoon.
