Aretxabaleta's Gazteleku service is participating for the third consecutive year in an international girls' meeting organized under the Erasmus+ program. This initiative, promoted by the German municipality of Wiesbaden around the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11th, brings together young women from various countries to share their realities and reflect on gender equality.
This year, the event is being held in the Basque Country, in Zarautz, gathering young women from Turkey, Germany, Poland, Palestine, and Aretxabaleta. The meeting began on October 10th and will continue until the 17th, fostering intercultural understanding and international relations among the participants.
Today, October 13th, the participants visited Aretxabaleta. After exploring the Urkulu area and various parts of the town in the morning, they received an institutional welcome at the Town Hall at midday. Attendees included Gari Iturbe, the mayor of Aretxabaleta, and Ainhoa Sanchez, the councilor for youth and equality.
In the afternoon, at 4:30 PM, they will participate in an empowerment workshop at the TRIL Txoko Feminista. The Aretxabaleta City Council has emphasized the value of such programs in contributing to the personal development and intercultural skills of young women.
