The Aretxabaleta City Council is aware of the significant price increases currently being experienced, which directly affect the municipality by making services more expensive. However, the municipal government team aims to make a special effort to contain the rise in taxes and fees, without increasing them more than strictly necessary. This measure will partially alleviate the burden already borne by the families of Aretxabaleta.
Thanks to the council's solid financial situation, the quality of public services can be maintained, and even improved and expanded, without needing to raise taxes and fees beyond what is essential.
Basic services will be frozen. Specifically, in 2027, water and waste fees will not see any increase.
The table of benefits will be reviewed and expanded. On one hand, the established margins will be increased to better adapt to the current situation. On the other hand, a single benefits table will be established for all taxed and fees that have a benefit, based on income and the number of family members, with special attention given to single-parent families.
Regarding taxes, the increase will be adjusted to the reality of each segment:
- The vehicle tax will be frozen.
- The Real Estate Tax (IBI) will see a 2.5% increase, below the reference CPI.
- Fees for the sports center and other minor fees will increase by 3.1%, according to the underlying July CPI in Euskadi. This index does not consider unprocessed foods and energy products, which are the most volatile prices.
In 2027, the council will offer a new option for payment installments. While taxes and fees previously had to be paid in a single installment, from now on, citizens will be able to pay them in installments if they request it. This measure will provide flexibility and convenience to families and businesses.
