A young snowboarder from Elgoibar, living in Deba, has wrapped up an outstanding season, securing numerous victories and podium finishes in both the Spanish and French circuits, despite his young age.

A young athlete from Elgoibar, currently residing in Deba, has concluded an exceptional season in the world of snowboarding, achieving triumphs and podium finishes on both sides of the Pyrenees. Despite his youth, his name is gaining significant recognition in the sport, having consistently excelled in junior categories and achieved excellent results since early 2022.
In the recently concluded season, the young snowboarder competed in the Under-15 category, being the youngest participant. Although he initially faced a disadvantage against more experienced competitors, the athlete from Debabarrena performed at a very high level, securing numerous victories and reaching the podium in almost all the events he entered.

"Having to compete with older rivals, I approached the season with the idea of learning from the seniors. That's why I didn't expect to achieve so many victories or reach the podium so many times."

Competing with the Skitoy club from the French town of Luz Saint Sauveur and federated in France, the young athlete has earned numerous medals in recent months. On the Spanish circuit, he competed in the Boardercross modality in the first two phases of the Movistar Cup, held at the resorts of Baqueira Beret and Formigal. He won both Under-15 events and secured a bronze medal in the overall competition, despite missing the final phase.
Additionally, he claimed victory in the Banked Slalom event at the Landing Snowboard competition in Baqueira Beret, notably winning in the Under-18 category against rivals up to five years his senior. In France, his achievements were even more significant. In Boardercross, his specialty, he won a gold medal at the French Championship in Orciéres Merlette, where he also took bronze in the Under-15 category. He also triumphed in the Toy Cup SBX (Luz Ardiden), the Under-15 and Under-18 events at Val Louron (Gigant Cross), and the Cup de France Snowboard Alpine Under-18 (Gourette).
Given these impressive results, the young snowboarder is widely considered to have a bright future in the sport, provided he remains free from injuries. His ambition is to compete at the highest international level in snowboardercross or participate in the SBX World Cup or the Winter Olympic Games. His parents, Ekaitz and Arantza, are committed to supporting him in this sporting journey, as long as he continues to prioritize his studies, which are currently his main focus at Mendata BHI school in Deba.
