Elgoibar will maintain its tradition on Tuesday, September 1st, with the Mauxitxa txaranga. This year, the group celebrates its 50th anniversary with a special 'diana' (morning wake-up call) to encourage the return to work. To commemorate this milestone, a popular and solidarity breakfast has been organized for all citizens.
Under the slogan '50 urte herria esnatzen / 50 years waking up the town', the txaranga will offer a free breakfast to all participants after the 7:00 AM parade. The breakfast will take place in the arcades of the Aita Agirre kulturgunea and will consist of hot chocolate and sponge cake prepared by the shop Doña Mercedes.
The Elgoibar City Council will cover the cost of these products, while the organization and distribution will be handled by the Nuala elkartea, an association dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with functional diversity and their families. Furthermore, Mauxitxa will donate one euro to Nuala for each glass of chocolate served, aiming to donate a total of one thousand euros.
The Mauxitxa txaranga, founded in 1970, aims with this initiative to pass on the tradition to younger generations, promote the integration of people with functional diversity, and support local commerce by consuming products from local businesses like Doña Mercedes.
This year, current and former musicians of the txaranga will join forces for the 50th anniversary 'diana', forming the largest group in its history. The parade will start at 7:00 AM from Kalebarren plaza and will follow the usual route.
