The School Sports program in Elgoibar is preparing for its upcoming academic year, announcing notable adjustments to both its calendar and programming. Registration will be open until September 14th, the day the program commences. To date, 254 children have signed up during the initial registration period.
One of the key innovations this year is the shift of the program's start date from October to early September. Furthermore, the schedule will emphasize team sports, giving greater importance to disciplines rooted in Elgoibar and incorporating other sports common in the town, aiming to foster student participation and diversity.
Games and alternative sports will also be part of the offered program, designed to provide healthy and educational experiences. Each team will have two sports sessions per week. Additionally, there will be gatherings and events on two Saturdays each month to offer participants a wider range of sporting experiences beyond their daily routines.
According to the organizers, the primary objective of Elgoibar's School Sports is to promote the comprehensive development of the town's children and youth, continuing to cultivate values, healthy habits, and coexistence through sports.
Regarding pricing, a significant change has been made: the annual fee has been reduced from 112 euros to 60 euros, nearly halving the cost. Moreover, families receiving social assistance will benefit from a 70% discount, making their annual fee just 18 euros. The organizers aim to make sports education more accessible to all residents.
