Elgoibar will celebrate its traditional 'Trinidades' festivities this weekend, with fairs and tamborradas taking center stage.

The residents of Elgoibar will celebrate their beloved and traditional 'Trinidades' festivities this coming weekend, which will once again be primarily marked by fairs and tamborrada parades. The program includes the XII Painting Contest, the XXIII Special Trinity Fair, a street parade with the Mauxitxa txaranga (brass band), and the adult tamborrada.
On Saturday, the events will kick off with the XII Open-Air Painting Contest for individuals over 18 years old, organized by Egur Arte Tailerra. Registration and canvas stamping will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM under the parish portico, with artwork submission between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
Furthermore, the Aita Agirre plaza will host the XXIII Special Trinity Fair starting at 9:30 AM, organized by the Elgoibar City Council and the regional rural development agency Debemen. The fair will combine the sale of local agricultural products (9:30 AM - 2:30 PM) with an exhibition of animals from Elgoibar's farmsteads (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM). Additionally, the Lekueder tent will feature (from 12:00 PM) a tasting of quality products, such as ribs and bacon from free-range Basatxerri pigs. A cider tasting and competition, organized by Zazpiki kultur elkartea, will also take place.
In the afternoon, the spotlight will be on a street parade by the Mauxitxa txaranga (from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, starting from Kalegoen plaza). In the evening, the adult tamborrada, organized by Atabal elkartea, will take place. A record participation of over 200 people is expected. For the first time, the music will not be provided by the Municipal Band due to disagreements; instead, the Latuna Bando txaranga will be responsible for the music.
On Sunday, Trinity Day, activities will commence at 7:45 AM with a 'diana' (morning music) by local 'txistularis' (Basque flute players). This will be followed by the 'sokamuturra' (bull-running with a rope) featuring heifers from the Saka ranch in Deba. Due to ongoing works in Kalebarren plaza, the sokamuturra will be held in the areas around Maala (8:00 AM - 8:45 AM) and Kalegoen plaza (8:45 AM - 10:30 AM).
Other highlights for Sunday include the XXXI Craft Fair (10:00 AM - 2:30 PM in Lekueder), a sung mass by the parish choir (at 11:00 AM in the parish church), and the children's tamborrada organized by the music and dance school (starting at 12:00 PM with nearly 200 participants). The day will conclude with a parade featuring giants, 'cabezudos' (big-heads), and 'zezen-zikletas' (bull-cyclists) accompanied by local 'dulzaineros' (wind musicians) (from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM).
