The city of Eibar is set to host this Sunday the VIII Grand Prix City of Eibar, a UCI 1.1 category race that will gather 11 international teams on a challenging 108.5-kilometer route.

This Sunday, April 19, Eibar will once again be the epicenter of elite cycling with the celebration of the VIII Grand Prix City of Eibar. This competition, the second event on the 2026 calendar of the Eibarrés Cycling Club, is classified as UCI Women 1.1 and will feature the participation of 11 teams from four different nationalities, ensuring a high level of competition.
The race will start at 10:00 AM from Toribio Etxebarria Street with a neutralized section through the city center, passing through Julián Etxeberria and Bidebarrieta before reaching the Azitain roundabout, where the official start will be given. From that point, the cyclists will face a 108.5-kilometer route characterized by its toughness and significant accumulated elevation gain.
The course will include four categorized climbs that will be key to the race's development. First, the climbs of Itziar and Meagas, both third category, will be tackled, followed by the demanding San Miguel, a second-category climb. However, all eyes will be on the decisive final ascent to Ixua, a first-category climb located just 6.5 kilometers from the finish line, a point that will undoubtedly be crucial for the race's outcome.
After cresting the climb, the riders will return to Eibar for the finish on Toribio Etxebarria Street, expected around 11:42 AM according to the fastest estimated schedule by the organization. The Eibarrés Cycling Club has expressed its gratitude to the Eibar City Council, the Basque Government, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, and all collaborators, whose support is essential for the realization of this event, which continues to consolidate itself as one of the prominent dates on the women's cycling calendar.
