The Autopia OET youth handball team, under the guidance of coaches Igor Arana and Gerardo Feijoo, emerged victorious in the Federation Trophy final against Elgoibar. The Ordizia-based team secured a 28-31 win, despite their opponents playing on home turf and failing to capitalize on their home advantage.
The match remained closely contested from start to finish, but the Ordizia squad managed to maintain their lead during crucial moments. They went into halftime with a one-goal advantage, and in the final minutes, they demonstrated the necessary composure to establish a three-goal lead, which was sufficient to win the match and lift the Federation Trophy.
This triumph confirms the excellent work being done by the Ordizia team; the team is progressing, both in play and results, and achieving this trophy is one of the collective's turning points.
The Ordizia players fought with determination to secure the win, despite facing player absences and unfavorable historical results. In their two previous encounters with the Elgoibar team, they had managed a draw at Majori and suffered a five-goal defeat on the opposing court. Nevertheless, the youth players of Ordizia Eskubaloia approached the match with enthusiasm and were crowned champions of Gipuzkoa, an achievement that, as highlighted by the club, “serves to underscore what has been accomplished this season”.
Furthermore, the club emphasizes the “significant assistance” these young talents provide to both senior teams. “Their high level of play and form are ensuring that their contribution is important to both teams”.
