Eibar will have new aquatic facilities prepared for the future through the Ipurua II project, expanding sports opportunities. The project is now out for tender and involves an investment of 15 million euros.

Eibar is moving forward with the Ipurua II project, which will provide the city with new aquatic facilities and expand its sports offerings. The project is currently out for tender and represents a significant step towards realizing an infrastructure designed to meet the current needs of sports clubs as well as those of daily municipal facility users. The estimated investment for the construction works amounts to 15 million euros, including VAT.
The future complex will feature two swimming pools: one for swimming and competition and another intended for multipurpose activities. It will also include spectator stands with a combined capacity for 150 to 200 people, and multipurpose rooms to broaden activity options. The aim is to equip Eibar with a space offering more opportunities for training, competition, and sports practice, capable of catering to diverse users and supporting the evolution of sports in the city.
“

"Ipurua II is a future investment for our city. We want Eibar residents to have adequate facilities for practicing sports and for our clubs to have spaces that allow them to develop their activities under the best possible conditions."

Jon Iraola · Mayor
A key aspect of the project has been listening to those who have firsthand knowledge of local sports needs. The City Council has held meetings with various sports clubs to gather their proposals, understand the challenges they face in their daily activities, and consider their demands when defining the new facilities. This engagement has allowed for their contributions to be incorporated into the complex's design, ensuring Ipurua II meets real needs and serves both organized sports and the general public.
“

"It was important for us to talk to the clubs, listen to them, and understand what they need to train and compete. They are the ones who use the facilities and can best explain what aspects we should consider. We have worked to incorporate their contributions into the project, and we want Ipurua II to be a facility that responds to Eibar's sports community and is prepared for the needs of the coming years."

Andoni Ameztoy · Sports Councilor
In addition to the indoor spaces, the project includes an outdoor public pathway leading to the building's roof, where a relaxation area and an exercise circuit are planned. This proposal will also leverage the surrounding environment and offer new spaces for physical activity. The goal is not only to expand the pool offerings but also to enhance the sports and public use possibilities in this area of Eibar.
The current tender covers the project's design and the technical management of the future works, a necessary step for the project's development. Based on this work, the project that will serve as the foundation for executing the new facilities will be finalized, maintaining the objective of providing the city with an aquatic complex aligned with its needs.
With Ipurua II, the City Council aims to strengthen municipal sports offerings and address a demand from both clubs and individuals who practice sports for recreation or well-being. The launch of this new infrastructure will provide an opportunity to expand the uses of aquatic facilities and improve resources for local sports. "We want this project to translate into a concrete improvement for the citizens and our clubs. Ipurua II must be a facility designed for Eibar and for the people who will use it," concludes Ameztoy.
