A serious industrial accident occurred in Laudio, at the Vibrantz factory, after an oven exploded past midnight. A 49-year-old worker has died and production has been suspended.

A fatal industrial accident occurred tonight in Laudio, at the Vibrantz factory. Past midnight, an oven in this plant, which manufactures pigments, exploded, killing a 49-year-old worker. The victim was a resident of Laudio.
The incident happened at midnight, and firefighters and Osalan technicians were dispatched to the factory on Gasteiz street. According to official sources, the explosion occurred during a routine procedure, and the causes of the accident are under investigation. The deceased was part of the maintenance department.

The plant has halted its production for two days.

Union sources have informed Aiaraldea Komunikabidea that the plant has suspended its production activities for the next two days. Meanwhile, the Workers' Committee is holding a meeting to call for mobilizations in response to the situation.
According to the LAB union, a total of 33 people have died in Euskal Herria in 2026 due to work-related incidents, while commuting to or from work. In the last decade, in Aiaraldea, more than 18 workers have lost their lives at their workplaces. The most recent case was a year ago, at the Tubos Reunidos plant in Amurrio, following a fall from height.
