Musicians and fans in Amurrio have joined forces to form the Amurrio Musikazale association, aiming to establish a new space for music creation and live performance organization.

Following the closure of the Burubio association, musicians in Amurrio have not stood still. They have organized into the Amurrio Musikazale Association, already bringing together over a hundred individuals. The new association's primary goal is to gather musicians and secure a suitable space for making music.
Miguel Rodriguez-Valdes, a member of the band Gwa Ya and the association's president, explained that they have begun engaging with institutions to achieve this objective. They held a positive initial meeting with the Amurrio City Council and are exploring the possibility of renovating rehearsal spaces in the Refor industrial estate. Furthermore, they intend to organize workshops and courses.

"There are old rehearsal spaces in the Refor industrial estate and we are in the process of rehabilitating them"

Miguel Rodriguez-Valdes · President of Amurrio Musikazale Association
Amurrio Musikazale Association aims to focus not only on musicians but also on fans. Rodriguez-Valdes emphasized the importance of live music, noting that after Burubio closed, there are few venues left for enjoying concerts. To address this, they plan to connect local musicians with bars or groups interested in organizing performances.
The association will publicly launch its activities on June 7th, coinciding with the Txakolin Eguna (Txakoli Day). They will set up a street stall with musical instruments and host a jam session. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try out various instruments.
