The LAB union at the JEZ company has sent a letter to Lehendakari Imanol Pradales to express concern over the serious situation faced by Maderas de Llodio workers.

Representatives of the LAB union at the JEZ company have sent a letter to Lehendakari Imanol Pradales to convey their "concern about the serious situation faced by the workers of the Maderas de Llodio factory". The JEZ and Maderas de Llodio plants are located next to each other, and the JEZ workers wished to express their solidarity with their colleagues who are completing 250 days of indefinite strike.
"As a union and as workers of a neighboring company, we cannot remain indifferent to such a conflict," they stated in the letter. They consider it "urgent" for Basque institutions to "activate all the necessary political, institutional, and industrial mechanisms to seek a real solution that maintains employment and guarantees the continuity of the activity."
LAB has requested the involvement of institutions, "placing the defense of the working class and the industrial network of Aiaraldea at the center". According to the union, it is "contradictory" that just a few weeks ago companies involved in the "transformation of 0-kilometer pine trees" were deemed "strategic" at the inauguration of the new facilities of Etorki in Murgia", while at the same time, "there is an ongoing labor dispute in a company that has decided to stop using Basque Country pine and import it from France for processing in La Rioja".
For all these reasons, the JEZ branch of the LAB union "urgently calls on the Basque Government to promote and activate all possible avenues to resolve the Maderas de Llodio case and guarantee the future of its workers", they requested of the Lehendakari.
In the coming days, LAB representatives will receive official confirmation that Lehendakari Pradales has received and read the letter.
