Solargic Energy, a company headquartered in Bilbao and Amorebieta-Etxano, merges solar self-consumption with electric vehicle charging to drive the energy transition. The firm specializes in the design, installation, and maintenance of solar panels for self-consumption in homes and industrial businesses. It also provides photovoltaic solutions for self-consumption, vehicle chargers, and electrical grid reforms. Currently, the team comprises six employees, and throughout its history, the company has completed approximately 150 solar installations, over 380 charging points, and around 30 comprehensive reforms.
According to Unai Imaz and Jordi Navarro, Solargic's managers, the Basque climate presents specific conditions for solar utilization, but also offers advantages. Current panels can efficiently use diffuse radiation, and moderate temperatures reduce losses from overheating. Furthermore, factors like terrain, shade, and outdoor exposure necessitate a design tailored to each location.
The addition of chargers expands the company's offering, combining two needs: producing one's own electricity and using it for transportation. "It is very efficient to power your vehicle with energy generated on your roof," the managers stated. This synergy allows Solargic to provide a customized solution for garages and single-family homes, with joint planning of equipment and necessary infrastructure.
The company's next initiative is EkoSpot, an intelligent charging project that has received support from SPRI's Ekintzaile program, along with consultancy from BIC Bizkaia. This initiative aims to install electric chargers in transport hubs and public spaces to address the shortage of available points. "This program greatly assists us in developing our intelligent charging technology," emphasized Imaz and Navarro.
Additionally, Solargic has recently received the Urratsbat award for best company for its value proposition. This award is presented by Tknika, the Applied Research Centre for Vocational Training in the Basque Country. Looking ahead, Solargic aims to advance the development of EkoSpot and explore new locations to bring fast charging closer to users. Concurrently, it plans to strengthen its team and operational base in Amorebieta-Etxano to meet growing demand.
