The Artziniega Town Hall plans to undertake expansion and improvement works on the playground at the Arteko Gure Ama school during the summer, aiming for completion before the start of the next academic year. This project has received a 29,000 euro grant from the Basque Government, with a total budget of 50,000 euros, supplemented by municipal contributions.
These works will mark the initial phase of a broader renovation process, as explained by councilor Arkaitz San Jose. San Jose described the undertaking as "a tremendous project" to be developed "step by step." The summer works focus on the section "that has been pending the longest": fencing off the playground located at the entrance to the Haurreskola and Primary Education area, to create "a more protected space."
Furthermore, additional steps are planned for the future. The municipal representative indicated that the educational community is engaged in a process to renovate "common spaces and the playground." Among other objectives, they aim to "reduce the centrality of the football field" to reinterpret the space "in a different way." San Jose emphasized, "we are very fortunate to have a large playground with a significant green area," and therefore, he asserted that "there is space for everything," "no activity should be left out, but the space needs to be given a different focus."
