A substantial part of the budget, 6.3 million euros, will be dedicated to "strategic housing projects and the rehabilitation and modernization of educational and sports facilities." Of this, 4.2 million euros will go towards the regeneration of the Goikolarra neighborhood. The remaining two million will fund various works, including the covered patio of the Mendiko School (550,000 euros), new changing rooms and stands at the Zabaleko School (332,000 euros), a new children's room at Tipi Tapa (100,000 euros), acoustic adaptation of the padel courts (105,000 euros), expansion of the Municipal Fronton (275,000 euros, with an additional 1.8 million planned for next year), renovation of Mendiko street (180,000 euros), and the Sukaldeberri project to promote the agri-food sector and local produce (187,500 euros).
2.9 million euros will be allocated to social protection and promotion policies, for equipping the new Day Care Resource Center (200,000 euros), the operation of San Mames Etxea (371,000 euros), social emergency aid (230,000 euros), employment and training (over 900,000 euros), and promoting the V Equality Plan (167,000 euros).
2.3 million euros will be used for the municipality's "cultural development," focusing on the Culture House, the Art School, and the Amurrio Theater, and 297,000 euros for the Basque language sector. Additionally, a "pioneering" fund of 10,000 euros will be launched to provide direct aid to families with celiac disease or severe gluten intolerance, to alleviate the associated food costs.
Furthermore, the Council will contribute 286,000 euros to the Administrative Boards, with 233,000 euros directed to these local entities and another 34,000 euros for daily transport services and technical assistance. In conjunction with this, a "new pilot taxi service" will be activated, completely free, to connect the council districts with the town center on weekly market days.
“"The council is spending more than it is earning, much more"
EH Bildu voted against the budget, citing a deficit exceeding 2 million euros and accusing the municipal government of "leading the council's finances to ruin." The local government, however, has defended the "excellent financial health" of the accounts, highlighting a treasury surplus of 5.5 million euros for general expenses and a positive net savings, accusing the opposition of an "electoral discourse."
