The Aiaraldea Quadrille has approved the regulatory bases for a call for subsidies aimed at sponsoring and boosting women's sports in the region during 2026.

The Aiaraldea Quadrille has approved the regulatory bases for a new call for subsidies, seeking to sponsor and significantly boost women's sports within the region. This aid program is designed for both individual athletes and collectives participating in official women's sports competitions throughout 2026. A crucial requirement is that beneficiaries must have their fiscal or social domicile in one of the municipalities of this Alavese quadrille, which include Laudio, Amurrio, Ayala, Okondo, and Artziniega.
The primary goal of this initiative is to support, make visible, and encourage women's participation in sports, especially in a context where a significant gap still exists in female sports practice. For instance, in Álava, during 2023, women's licenses accounted for only 27.13% of the total. Furthermore, the distribution of women across different disciplines reveals clear gender segregation, as sports where women exceed 50% of federated individuals are those traditionally considered more “feminine,” such as gymnastics, equestrianism, volleyball, and winter sports.

"These subsidies aim to strengthen the female sports fabric of Aiaraldea and provide a real boost to the visibility of women in sports, accompanying this growth with useful and accessible tools for clubs and athletes."

Laura Fernández · President of the Social Affairs, Equality and Culture Commission
Both natural and legal persons participating in official women's sports competitions are eligible for these grants. Individual athletes must be federated and registered in one of the Quadrille's municipalities. Sports entities, on the other hand, must have at least one active women's team and meet the specified requirements. The application period will be one month from the announcement of the call in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava, published on April 8, through the electronic headquarters of the Aiaraldea Quadrille.
The maximum budget allocation for this subsidy call amounts to 4,000 euros, and the aid amount cannot exceed 1,000 euros per beneficiary entity or individual. The Aiaraldea equality service will be available to advise and support all interested individuals and entities throughout the application process, via email at berdintasuna@aiaraldea.org and phone at 686 587 889.
