The municipality of Gernika-Lumo has finalized its special fairs calendar for 2026, reinforcing a successful formula that integrates local products, gastronomy, and tradition, scheduled to run from June through December.

The calendar for Gernika-Lumo's special fairs in 2026 has been established, solidifying a format that combines local produce, gastronomy, and tradition as key elements of an activity that, beyond its commercial aspect, is an integral part of the town's social rhythm. The program will unfold between June and December, featuring a series of events that structure the annual calendar.
The schedule will commence on June 6 with the Urdaibaiko Txakolinaren Eguna, focusing on the tasting of txakoli with the Bizkaiko Txakolina designation of origin. Subsequently, the pattern will repeat with variations: horticultural fairs, craft stalls, and family activities accompanying each day.
July 4 will mark the Gernikako Piperraren Eguna, celebrating one of the region's most recognizable products, while August 1 will be dedicated to a combination of Rioja Alavesa wine and cod. On September 5, the program will shift towards Bizkaia rabbit and cider, following a logic that alternates local identity with gastronomic offerings.
October, as is customary, concentrates the most prominent events of the calendar. The 3rd will host the Sukalki Eguna, a prelude to the First Monday of October, which on the 4th and 5th will feature the XXXIX Euskal Herria Pyrenean Cattle Championship, alongside exhibitions of livestock, machinery, and farm products.
On October 26, the Last Monday will once again activate one of the most established milestones, complete with competitions. November 7 will see the celebration of the Gernikako Indabaren Eguna, while December will be highlighted by the Day of the Snail. The registration period for participating in the fairs remains open until May 15 and can be processed through the municipal website (www.gernika-lumo.eus).
