This project aims to strengthen nautical infrastructure in Bizkaia. Construction begins next week, and upon completion, the port will have approximately 530 moorings, including nine new spaces for transit vessels.
The work will allow for the reorganization of current berths, moving larger vessels from Portuzarra and anchorage zones to the new docks. The allocation of spaces will be based on vessel length to meet existing demand.
As part of a broader transformation plan, Euskadiko Kirol Portuak plans to build a new harbor master's office and improve visitor facilities. Additionally, the old shipyard at Frantxua wharf will be demolished to remove a deteriorated structure and recover strategic space for port activities.
