The Directorate of Emergency Attention and Meteorology of the Basque Government has activated a yellow alert in Bizkaia for this afternoon, due to the risk of intense rain, storms, and even hail, with forecasts indicating over 15 liters per square meter in one hour.

The weather will undergo significant changes this afternoon in Bizkaia. Heavy rains and storms are expected from 2 PM onwards, and in some areas of the province, especially in the east, forecasts suggest the possibility of hail.
The Directorate of Emergency Attention and Meteorology of the Basque Government will activate a yellow alert from 2 PM today due to the risk of intense rainfall. According to the Department of Security, the alert will be in effect until ten at night, with the forecast indicating that more than 15 liters per square meter could be exceeded in one hour.
The forecast also announces moderate and stormy showers for this afternoon, which could be locally strong, especially in the east, where hail might even fall. The wind will blow strongly with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. Since early morning, strong southerly gales have kept the thermometer around twenty degrees in Bizkaia. Later, in the afternoon, the dynamic will change in the Cantabrian area, and the wind will blow from the west and northwest.
Despite the bad weather, the heat will persist. Maximum temperatures will remain around 20 degrees, while minimums will fluctuate between 10 degrees inland and 15 degrees on the coast.
The cause of this drastic weather change is a trough that will bring rain to practically the entire northern part of the peninsula. Rain is also expected to continue affecting the area and causing precipitation on Sunday.
