On Sunday, two men aged 30 and 27 were arrested by the Ertzaintza in Bilbao for attempting to rob a tourist's bag and throwing stones at two citizens who confronted them.

The events, as reported by the Security Department of the Basque Government, took place shortly before 8:30 AM on Juan de Garay street, near Zabalburu station. After receiving an alert, several Ertzaintza patrols arrived at the scene, where they found the two alleged thieves, of Maghrebi origin, throwing stones at a man and a woman.
The citizen who confronted the suspects stated that the two young men had tried to rob the tourist by reaching into her bag. When he intervened to prevent it, one of the assailants grabbed an iron bar and attempted to attack him, but the citizen disarmed him. It was then that the two individuals began to throw stones at them.
Officers reported that the young men continued to throw stones, collected from the train tracks, at both the citizens and the ertzainas themselves. Eventually, they managed to subdue one of them, while the other fled towards Bailén street. Minutes later, another Ertzaintza patrol located and arrested the second thief and assailant, aged 27, near the station on Bailén street.
Consequently, the Ertzaintza proceeded to arrest the two men for an alleged crime of robbery with violence and intimidation. The detainees were transferred to the Ertzain-etxea facilities in Bilbao and were brought before a judge on Sunday afternoon.
