The Community of Madrid will be the stage on June 28 for the inaugural regatta of the men's Eusko Label and women's Euskotren leagues, marking their first appearance in the region.

The Riosequillo reservoir, located in Buitrago del Lozoya, will serve as the main venue for the rowing season commencing on June 28, 2026. It will host the opening regattas for both the men's Eusko Label and women's Euskotren leagues. This event marks the first time it will be held in the Community of Madrid.
The Community of Madrid will lend its name to the flag that officially opens the season. The regatta will be contested in a time-trial format. Additionally, complementing the event, a FanZone will be set up with a giant screen for race viewing, along with an exhibition of trophies and tastings of Basque products.

"It is a source of pride that the traineras leagues, which offer an unparalleled spectacle, will dock for the first time in the Community of Madrid, where the elite of rowing will gather, with over 450 participating athletes."

Isabel Díaz Ayuso · President of the Community of Madrid
Díaz Ayuso expressed her "pride" and emphasized that "major events should be celebrated not only in the capital but in all municipalities" of the region. "We thank you for sharing with us a tradition with so much history and roots," she added.

"The arrival in the Community of Madrid is extremely important and historic for our association. Buitrago offers ideal conditions, both in and out of the water, and the institutions have provided significant facilities."

Borja Rodrigo · President of the Association of Traineras Clubs (ACT)
Borja Rodrigo, president of the ACT, stated that the arrival in the Community of Madrid is "extremely important and historic" for the association. He praised both the "ideal conditions" offered by Buitrago, both on and off the water, and the "facilities" provided by the institutions. Finally, Javier del Valle, the mayor of Buitrago del Lozoya, commented that it is "a very important day" for the municipality, as "something that seemed impossible" has been agreed upon: the arrival of "such a deep-rooted and spectacular tradition" in the town.
Following its stop in Madrid, the leagues will travel in July, August, and September through Bilbao, Zierbena, Castro Urdiales, Orio, Redondela, Bueu, Donostia, Getxo, Santurtzi, Lekeitio, Ondarroa, Hondarribia, Pasaia, Getaria, Zarautz, Rianxo, and Ares, before the two final races in the waters of Bermeo and Portugalete.
