The Antiviolence Commission has proposed two fines, each amounting to 10,000 euros, to Baskonia for allegedly hindering the work of the Ertzaintza in two EuroLeague matches played in Vitoria-Gasteiz against Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) and Hapoel Tel Aviv. The games took place on March 25th and 27th.
The investigation file states that the Vitoria-based club failed to provide the security coordinator with information regarding ticket sales to visiting fans, including the location of these supporters and the number of attendees. Antiviolence links this lack of information to the planning of the security arrangements for the matches.
The proposed sanctions apply to the match against Crvena Zvezda as well as the game against Hapoel Tel Aviv. In both instances, the Commission points out that Baskonia neglected its obligation to transmit relevant data for the organization of the police deployment.
The body believes that this lack of cooperation impacted the Ertzaintza's operations at the Buesa Arena. The Commission asserts that this data was necessary to ascertain the presence of visiting supporters, their seating locations within the venue, and the required security measures.
Antiviolence further notes an additional breach during the match against Hapoel Tel Aviv. In this case, the club allegedly failed to adhere to the agreed-upon schedules with law enforcement agencies for security checks of the visiting team's bus.
The Commission states that this action caused a disruption in the planned deployment. The National Sports Office of the Police's file also records a 'repeated lack of collaboration' from the club.
