Hair diagnostics in Barcelona take a scientific turn with the introduction of 3D Hair Reconstruction, a cutting-edge protocol developed in your own salon. The medical infographic of the treatment shows a first block called "Molecular Structure of Keratin". From a trichological perspective, what exactly happens at that internal level before the damage becomes visible in the hair?
Finally, the bottom right diagram details the "Cuticle Restoration," showing a drastic change towards "Cuticle Sealing." What is the biological objective of Phase 4 to conclude the 3D protocol?

- Aggressive chemical processes such as bleaching with high alkaline pH and poorly executed thermal straightening progressively degrade keratin. The initial impact is invisible to the naked eye because it occurs at an atomic level: the stability of the polypeptide chains that form the longitudinal structure of the hair is broken, and the molecular bonds—or disulfide bridges—that link them transversely are destroyed. Without this mesh on the X and Y axes, the fiber loses its mechanical resilience, which macroscopically translates into porosity, loss of elasticity, and breakage. Our 3D technique addresses this degradation by repairing the fiber simultaneously in its three structural dimensions.
- We act in order of molecular weight. In Phase 1, we focus on the polypeptide chains by introducing essential low-molecular-weight amino acids that penetrate directly. These act as chemical scaffolds to straighten and provide load-bearing support to the remaining proteins. Immediately after, in Phase 2, we introduce an advanced polymer system with specific molecular affinity. These polymers locate the free ends of broken molecular bonds and facilitate electrostatic and covalent bonding. By recomposing this two-dimensional network in the first few minutes, the cessation of the brittle or "chewing gum" effect when wet is immediate.
- Because structurally damaged hair has voids; the cortex becomes porous, meaning it becomes hollow. If we only joined the molecular bonds but left the cortex empty, the hair would lack body, mass, and natural weight. In this third phase, we perform a mass replenishment by injecting a concentrated complex of hydrolyzed keratin and low-molecular-weight proteins. These biomolecules physically occupy the empty spaces in the cortex, compacting it, restoring internal density, and returning the hair to its original mechanical behavior and elasticity.

- Durability and physical protection. A three-dimensionally repaired cortex would be exposed again if the cuticle remained open; the injected nutrients would leach out (wash away) in a few daily hygiene cycles. In Phase 4, we apply a biopolymer sealant formulated with a stabilized acidic pH (between 3.5 and 4.5). This pH gradient causes immediate contraction of the cuticle scales, flattening them completely. The benefit is twofold: it locks in the active ingredients and hydration within the cortex, and by leaving an optically smooth and homogeneous outer surface, light refraction becomes directional. This generates natural three-dimensional shine through pure surface optical physics, completely eliminating the need for heavy or occlusive silicones.
