The Guardia Civil is carrying out a major operation against common crime in the Zurbaranbarri neighborhood of Bilbao. The operation has connections to other autonomous communities and even internationally, according to official sources. The operation, which began at six in the morning this Thursday, has already led to several arrests, and with it still ongoing, further detentions are not ruled out.
The investigation was conducted by agents from the organized crime unit of the armed institute, who traveled from Madrid, with support from the commands in Bizkaia and Álava. Last week, the Guardia Civil arrested 16 people, 8 of them in Bizkaia, during a parallel operation across four provinces. This operation led to the dismantling of a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking. Agents seized over 160,000 doses of various substances, including fentanyl, pink cocaine, speed, ketamine, and amphetamines. 300 agents from the armed institute participated in the intervention.
