Euskal Herria Bertsolari Championship: 50 Bertsos to Participate, Including One Local

The Bertsozale Elkartea association has presented the championship, starting in Hazparne and concluding at Nafarroa Arena, with fifteen sessions.

The Bertsozale Elkartea association has presented the Euskal Herria Bertsolari Championship in Bilbao today, featuring 50 bertsolaris, among whom Amaia Iturriotz Etxaniz is the sole local participant.

The championship will kick off in Hazparne, with the winner receiving the 'txapela' (beret) at the Nafarroa Arena. There will be a total of fifteen sessions. The first phase will include seven sessions, one in each territory: Hazparne (September 19), Alsasua (September 26), Lekeitio (September 27), Donapaleu (October 3), Tolosa (October 4), Gotaine-Irabarne (October 10), and Agurain (October 11). In this phase, 42 bertsolaris will perform, and Iturriotz will sing in the Tolosa session.
The winner of each group will directly advance to the next phase. The group qualifying for the semi-finals will be formed by those accumulating the most points. A total of 17 bertsolaris will compete in the semi-finals, joined by the six finalists from 2022: Amets Arzallus, Alaia Martin, Aitor Mendiluze, Sustrai Colina, Beñat Gaztelumendi, and Nerea Ibarzabal.
The semi-finals will be held over two rounds. The first round will consist of four sessions: Larraun-Lekunberri (October 24), Eibar (October 31), Gernika-Lumo (November 7), and Miarritze (November 14). The second round, however, will feature three sessions: in Donostia on November 21, in Gasteiz on November 28, and in Bilbao on December 5.
In the final at the Nafarroa Arena on December 20, last year's champion, Maialen Lujanbio, and the top seven from the semi-finals will compete.
Tickets for all sessions will go on sale on June 17 at the website bertsosarrerak.eus. Members of Bertsozale Elkartea will have their final ticket reserved between June 17 and 24.
