The Ermua City Council and the Water Consortium will jointly renovate several sections of sidewalk and replace water pipes on Bizkaia Avenue, aiming to optimize resources and reduce public disruption.

The Ermua City Council will undertake the renovation of several sidewalk sections on the even-numbered side of Bizkaia Avenue. This work will coincide with the pipe replacement project to be carried out by the Water Consortium in the network between Kaltxango square and the underpass beneath the railway line.
This coordinated intervention will allow for joint action on one of the municipality's main arteries, optimizing resources, avoiding duplication in public spending, and reducing inconvenience for citizens. The current pavement, consisting of old tiles in various parts of the route, will be replaced by the 'granicem' model, the same one being installed in renovated and newly urbanized areas of the town.
The objective is to improve the condition of the sidewalks, enhance accessibility, and provide greater aesthetic homogeneity to the urban area, in line with criteria applied in other interventions. The intervention area extends from Kaltxango square to the Bizkaia Avenue tunnel, covering a section heavily used by both pedestrians and vehicles.
The works will be executed in two phases to minimize impact. The first will take place between the Abeletxe tunnel and Marqués de Valdespina park, while the second will continue from this point to Kaltxango. The estimated duration of the works is approximately three and a half months.
During this period, traffic disruptions are expected, especially around the Abeletxe tunnel, where an alternative passage system regulated by flaggers will be enabled. The City Council emphasizes that this action will improve the overall condition of one of the main access roads to the municipality, while advancing the modernization and quality of public space.
