“"Durango Market must be a lively and dynamic space that generates activity throughout the year and attracts citizens. Revitalization is fundamental to making it a true meeting point, strengthening local commerce, and giving greater visibility to our local products. Only then will we achieve the market being an economic engine and a reflection of Durango's identity."

The Durango City Council has prepared a special and extensive program of activities throughout April to reactivate the Durango Market, promoting gastronomic knowledge and the value of local products.
The aim of this initiative is to boost the market's dynamism, creating a close and dynamic meeting point. To this end, various training and outreach proposals will be developed on Thursday afternoons. For example, on April 16, a cooking workshop will focus on chicken butchering and utilization, offering useful everyday techniques. Subsequently, on April 23, a tasting of Euskal Sagardoa will be offered, providing an opportunity to learn about and sample this traditional Basque cider. Finally, on April 30, the session “From Grain to Bread I” will take place, as part of the “Getting to Know the Producer” activity, detailing the process of transforming grain into bread.
The program will be complemented by activities on Saturday mornings. On April 11, at 8:30 AM, Amatxo Gaztak will be the guest producer, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about their products and their work up close. Likewise, on April 25, a show cooking session on edible wild plants will be held, demonstrating their culinary possibilities.
Mireia Elkoroiribe, the mayor of Durango, has emphasized the importance of market revitalization as a key element of this project. In her words, the market must be a lively and dynamic space that generates activity throughout the year and attracts citizens, strengthening local commerce and giving greater visibility to local products.
