Astigarraga Cyclists Achieve Strong Results in Weekend Races

Aimar Zapiain secured 26th place in the Altsasu race, with Ekhi Garmendia and Xabat Artola also performing commendably.

Cyclists from Astigarraga delivered strong performances over the weekend, with Aimar Zapiain finishing 26th in Altsasu and notable efforts from Ekhi Garmendia and Xabat Artola.

Cyclists from Astigarraga competed in two races this past weekend: one on Saturday in Amorebieta and another on Sunday in Altsasu. Ekhi Garmendia was the sole local rider from the Iruki/Almetac Donostialdea Bizikletan cycling school to complete both events, braving the weekend's intense heat. He finished in the second group in Amorebieta and in the middle of the peloton in Altsasu.
Meanwhile, Xabat Artola, despite battling a flu-like illness all week, managed to finish the Altsasu race within Ekhi's group. In the same race, Aimar Zapiain achieved one of his best seasonal results, securing 26th position after a challenging descent, having stayed with the leading group over the Altamira pass.
Next week, the local cyclists will face the tough and windy Atarrabia race on Saturday.
