The Lasarte-Oria driver had strong training sessions, where he consistently improved his times. He recorded a 02.40,023 in the first session, which he then lowered to 02.31,181 in the official run. According to the driver, these times led them to believe they had a strong chance of winning.
“"Markak ikusita irabazteko aukerak genituela uste genuen."
However, at the end of the warm-up sessions, serious technical issues emerged. A selector in the gearbox malfunctioned, limiting him to only the first, second, and third gears. In this challenging situation, Manso strategically focused on accumulating points, recognizing the importance of securing points for the overall championship given the long season ahead.
“"Abiadura kaxan hautagailu bat izorratu zen eta lehen, bigarren eta hirugarren martxak bakarrik sartu ahal genituen."
Ultimately, Aitor Manso managed to win his category and finished fourth in the overall standings. This result is particularly significant given the technical difficulties he faced.
The next round of the Euskadi championship is scheduled for May 9 in Gorla (Bizkaia). In the interim, the Lasarte-Oria driver will compete in a Madrid championship event on the 25th and 26th of this month.
