The Irun City Council has announced the final phase of the 2027 Participatory Budgets. The pre-vote saw participation from 782 people, 247 more than the previous year, with a total of 3,276 votes counted, a 45% increase from last year's 2,249. The top 13 online proposals from the general process and 22 from the youth process will be the finalists.
Citizens can cast their votes from October 2nd to 6th via the municipal website irun.org, using their IRUN Txartela (ID card). Those without one can obtain it through the website. Support points for voting will also be available at the Citizen Service Center (SAC) and senior centers on designated days.
A total of €1,500,000 has been allocated to the participatory budgets: €1,300,000 for the general process projects and €200,000 for youth proposals (for individuals aged 16-30, who can vote in both processes).
Among the general process proposals are the transformation of playgrounds into naturalized play areas adapted to climate change, the creation of spaces for emotional management activities, improvements to sidewalks, and enhancing dog waste bins. For the youth process, highlights include leisure monitor courses, increased budgets for youth centers (Gaztelekus), and studies on co-living models to facilitate housing access.
The support tent for online voting, initially planned for this Friday, will now be set up on Monday, October 5th, between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, in the Ensanche Square.
