The municipal live music cycle Irun Zuzenean will enhance its concert offerings with DJ sets scheduled before, after, and between performances. These sessions will take place in IrekiArt, the entrance atrium of the Center for Culture and Creativity (CBA), thereby expanding the space for the cycle.
Following the opening of this space a year ago, the Culture department shifted from a weekend festival format to a cycle held primarily on October weekends. Last year's positive experience has led the City Council to maintain this format for 2026.
In addition to the announced groups, including Huecco (3rd), Jimena Amarillo and Biznaga (10th), Pipiolas and Carlos Sadness (17th), La Paloma and La Habitación Roja (24th), and Garazi Esnaola and Amaia Miranda (31st), Culture delegate Nuria Alzaga has confirmed the inclusion of DJs. 'The concerts will be in the Sala Irun Zuzenean and the DJ sets in IrekiArt. These are two different spaces within the same CBA, allowing us to enhance the experience, create atmosphere, and ensure more happens around each concert,' she stated.
The cycle, which last year emphasized diversity in styles, dates, and audiences, now broadens its conceptual and physical proposal with the addition of DJs and the utilization of IrekiArt.
To ensure coherence, the DJs have been carefully selected. The opening day, targeting young audiences with a subsidized price (5.65 euros), will feature local talent DJ Aimar. For the Pipiolas and Carlos Sadness performance, DJ Siwanaba has been chosen for their open musical style blending salsa and electronic music. On the 24th, Optigan 1, a regular at festivals like BBK Live, will entertain with a varied rock-oriented set. For the final day, October 31st, the San Sebastián collective Zeatikez DJs will provide music before and after the sets by Garazi Esnaola and Amaia Miranda, offering a fresh electronic-infused pop proposal.
As a notable new addition, on October 9th, Igor Pascual, guitarist for Loquillo, will conduct a masterclass titled 'how to write a rock song and not die trying.' This session, combining talk and humor, will trace the genre's history from The Beatles to Los Planetas, explaining the songwriting process.
