Zarautz emerged victorious this midday at the Elantxobe Ikurriña, marking the third fixture of the ETE League. The 'Enbata' boat, which also triumphed in the inaugural race, once again engaged in a close contest for victory with Hondarribia, the winner of the second regatta. Across the three races held so far, these two crews have consistently occupied the top two positions.
This time, in the championship's first open-water competition, the Zarautz crew (11:24.67) finished ten seconds and 40 hundredths ahead of their Hondarribia rivals. 'Enbata' now leads the league standings with 23 points, one more than Hondarribia.
Following two time-trial races, the ETE League rowers competed in a line formation for the first time this season. The crews, coached by Juanjo Etxarte and Osertz Alday, rowed together in lanes 2 and 3, quickly establishing a lead. The Zarautz team completed the turning buoy three seconds ahead of Hondarribia and managed to extend their advantage further on the return leg.
Hernani competed in the first heat and finished sixth overall in the regatta. Their boat, 'La Maialen', recorded the second-slowest time at the turning buoy, ahead only of Portugalete. However, in the final meters of the second leg, the boat directed by Asie Ocón managed to overtake Isuntza as well. The Hernani team is now sixth in the general classification.
The next event in the ETE League is scheduled to take place in Zarautz next Sunday (12:30 PM).
