Following previous work in other neighborhoods, the project will focus on the stretch between numbers 10 and 16. The growth of tree root systems has caused significant damage to the pavement. The primary solution will involve widening the tree pits to provide more space for root development. During the execution, specific techniques will be studied to improve soil permeability and reduce future root impact.
The initial intervention includes remodeling the tree pits and repairing the pavement between them, even in areas with street furniture like benches. However, the possibility of repaving the entire sidewalk up to the building facade is being considered, as the pavement in some sections has lost its proper profile and slopes and shows various breaks and damage.
Throughout the construction period, efforts will be made to maintain pedestrian access, occupying only the necessary width for the work. Coordination with affected businesses and building communities will ensure access to establishments and buildings is maintained as much as possible.
The contractor awarded the contract is Urbycolan, S.L., and the estimated duration of the works is three weeks. The Irun City Council apologizes for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their understanding.
