Irun will launch its 2027 Participatory Budget process on September 10, allocating €1.5 million for citizens to propose improvements. The first open in-person meeting will take place at the Palmera Montero Space, open to all residents over 16, and a specific youth process for ages 16-30.
Proposals can be submitted via the municipal website. From all received proposals, 13 will be pre-selected through an online vote and will advance to the final vote for inclusion in the 2027 General Budget. Identification with the Irun Txartela will be required, allowing each person to choose up to 5 proposals. Online proposal submission runs from September 11 to 15, with pre-voting on September 28 and 29.
Additionally, an in-person meeting on Thursday, September 10, at the Palmera Montero Space (c/ Leandro Agirretxe, 1) at 7:00 PM, will select 3 proposals that will also proceed to the final vote. In total, 20 finalist proposals will advance in the general process.
The youth process, alongside online proposals, will add eight more: two from the Agenda Escolar 2030, five from the Youth Service, and one from the Foro de Irun Bixi. Participation in both channels is open, allowing young people aged 16-30 to contribute to both processes.
The finalist proposals from both avenues will total 20 projects per process, which will be evaluated by the competent technical services. Subsequently, the finalist projects will be published on the website and put to a citizen vote between October 2 and 6. Electronic voting will be available at irun.org, requiring identification via the IRUN Txartela.
An information booth will be set up on Wednesday, September 9, in Plaza Genaro Etxeandia, and another for online voting support on Friday, October 2, in Plaza del Ensanche.
