“"In Nepal, there is a belief that a child with a disability is a divine punishment. No one thought these children should go to school because they believed they had no mind. I have seen children in cages all day or tied to the headboard of their beds while their families went to work. 14 years ago, I decided this could not happen and began building special education schools in Nepal."

The Batzoki of Hondarribia will host a solidarity event this Saturday afternoon, combining music, discussion, and commitment, with the aim of raising funds to ensure access to education and a dignified life for children with disabilities in Nepal.
The event, starting at 7:00 PM, will feature Jakes Txapartegi and Iñaki Gezala on piano, and Aleksandra Gladysheva as vocalist. The initiative seeks to support the ONG Familia de Hetauda and the Si Asha Foundation, both dedicated to social work in Nepal, focusing on the education and well-being of children with intellectual disabilities.
The talk will be the central focus of the event, aiming to highlight music as a fundamental tool for inclusion. Aina Barca, founder of Familia de Hetauda, will be present at this event, organized together with Iñaki Guezala and Aleksandra Gladysheva. After its presentation in Barcelona, the initiative now comes to Bidasoaldea to spread awareness of the NGO's important work.
Aina recounts the initial difficulties in registering the first school, as the government did not deem it necessary. However, a change in mentality has gradually been achieved, and music has proven to be an essential tool in educational and therapeutic development. During the event, donations can be made to Familia de Hetauda and the Si Asha Foundation, with the goal of building a complete music classroom and continuing music therapy work.
For those unable to attend, a 'Fila 0' (Zero Row) has been set up, offering the opportunity to financially support both entities. Admission to the event will be by voluntary contribution from each attendee, with no fixed price.
