The PNV has requested the Hondarribia City Council to begin the necessary preliminary work for the development of an underground parking facility in Javier Ugarte park.

The PNV has proposed incorporating a budget item in the next budgetary modification to initiate «the necessary preliminary works to develop... an underground parking lot in the Javier Ugarte park» in Hondarribia.
The jeltzales recalled that «the lack of parking is one of the main concerns of the citizens, a problem that is especially aggravated in summer». They value that in this term «work has begun on an ordinance to regulate public street parking, reserving areas for residents. However», they consider, «its processing is proving complex because it is difficult to limit parking without offering new alternatives to both residents and visitors to the city».
The jeltzale proposal involves «starting now, promoting technical studies and preliminary projects to analyze the feasibility and define the characteristics» of this «strategic» infrastructure. They defend the location in Javier Ugarte because «it will serve residents of the Old Town and Portu Auzoa, as well as visitors to the city», and will do so by preventing them from having to access the most central streets.
