This production by Ados Teatroa is based on real testimonies of loneliness, previously collected through micro-documentaries. The play's title refers to a strange sound recorded in various Pacific locations, similar to a blue whale's call. However, blue whales communicate at frequencies between 10 and 39 hertz, meaning this solitary whale's voice, vibrating at 52 hertz, falls outside the species' auditory range. No other whale has ever been able to hear its call.
The play uses the metaphor of this solitary whale, which has become a symbol of social isolation, to weave a multifaceted perspective on individuals experiencing or having endured moments of unwanted loneliness. The echo of that sound transcends the text and staging, presented in a non-realistic tone filled with poetic and choreographic imagery.
