The IES Arratia institute in Igorre experienced an act of vandalism this past weekend, resulting in damage to several classrooms and the boys' changing room.

The IES Arratia institute, located in Igorre, has sustained significant material damage following an act of vandalism that occurred over the weekend. Several modules were affected, including two classrooms and the boys' changing room. Among the damages, overturned furniture and destroyed or scattered school and teaching materials were found.
This incident took place while the municipality of Arratia was celebrating its patron saint festivities. In a joint statement, the Institute's Management, the AMPA Tranvía Txiki, the Igorre City Council, and the Festival Committee have expressed their "indignation, sadness, and concern" over the events, posing a direct question to the perpetrators: "Do you truly realize who your actions have harmed?"
The signatories of the statement are clear that the damage extends beyond the institution itself. "Harming the center is not just about damaging the management, the teachers, or the building itself," they specified. The most affected are, above all, "the students," they emphatically stated. This is because the funds the center will have to allocate to repair or replace the damages could directly impact the school material fees, resources for seminars, or the implementation of educational projects and initiatives.
The Management of IES Arratia, its AMPA, the City Council, and the Festival Committee are also calling for a collective reflection on the concept of education. "Families, students, city councils, associations, and citizens are also part of the educational community," they emphasized in the statement, "because together, we build values such as respect, responsibility, coexistence, and the care of collective assets."
