The Basque Government presented the 2026 Gure Artea Awards this afternoon at Tabakalera, Donostia-San Sebastián, recognizing achievements in plastic and visual arts.

Itziar Okariz received the award for artistic career trajectory, endowed with 30,000 euros. The artist has spent over 35 years conducting artistic research through performances, actions, videos, installations, and texts, exploring the relationships between the body, architecture, territory, ritual, and language.
Beatriz Olabarrieta was awarded the prize for creative activity, with a grant of 25,000 euros. Her practice is based on observation and experimentation, where objects, materials, and spaces generate new relationships and forms of perception.
Kampai Espazioa, a self-managed space from Bilbao, received the award for activities by agents in the plastic and visual arts field, also with 25,000 euros. It was recognized for its support of contemporary creation, particularly in performance and visual practices.
These awards are part of the Basque Government's initiatives to recognize talent and strengthen Euskadi's artistic ecosystem. The prize money has increased by 33.3% this year, from 60,000 to 80,000 euros.
