The San Prudencio Tamborrada in Vitoria-Gasteiz will once again feature an afternoon session on April 27, 2026, following the resounding success of last year's pilot, in addition to its traditional midnight parade.

The San Prudencio Tamborrada in Vitoria-Gasteiz is set to repeat its afternoon session in 2026, building on the significant success achieved in the 2025 edition. What began as a one-off initiative to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Tamborrada has now been solidified for a second edition due to overwhelming public response.
Thus, on Monday, April 27, 2026, the Tamborrada will feature a double session: one in the late afternoon (between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM) and another at midnight. Leire Betolaza herself hinted to Gasteiz Hoy on April 27, 2025, that the afternoon session might become permanent, stating, "It's been very exciting, the streets are overflowing, and the afternoon session is proving to be a success."

Some adjustments will be made to optimize the organization and address minor issues identified last year. In 2026, both parades, the afternoon and midnight ones, will start from the Torre de Doña Ochanda to uphold tradition. The afternoon parade will commence around 7:00 PM and proceed along Siervas de Jesús and Diputación streets to the Plaza de España. While the exact schedule is still being finalized, the goal is to reach the Plaza Nueva and perform there before 8:00 PM.
Last year, a coordination issue arose at this point at 8:02 PM. Gastronomic societies played two pieces after the first retreat call, but simultaneously, the Folklore Academy performed the Zortziko on stage. This year, the Tamborrada will enter the square shortly before 8:00 PM, anticipating the first retreat call. There, they will perform two drum and barrel beats, leading into the first retreat call.
The route will be shorter than in 2025. Last year, public attendance was very strong up to the Plaza de España, though it slightly decreased in Dato and San Prudencio streets. This year, the Tamborrada will conclude in front of the Caminante, with a brief passage through Dato street after the Plaza Nueva.
Beyond the afternoon session, the classic night Tamborrada will continue, with a performance on the Palacio de la Provincia stage at midnight. Gastronomic societies will perform after the Ametza and Okerrak Tamborradas, which typically start a few minutes earlier. However, the night Tamborrada will conclude at the Virgen Blanca. Like last year, it will be shorter. They will not play beyond the Virgen Blanca due to a significant decline in attendance at these night events in recent years. For now, the discontinuation of the night Tamborrada is not under consideration, but the evolution of this event, created in 1975 as a copy of the San Sebastián Tamborrada, will be reviewed annually.
Meanwhile, preparations for both the adult and children's Tamborradas are ongoing. Rehearsals have not yet begun, but once again, a call has been issued for participation in the children's Tamborrada. The first rehearsals for both tamborradas will start in mid-March. The general rehearsal is scheduled for April 26, 24 hours before the main event.
