Families in Vitoria-Gasteiz interested in changing their household consumption habits can now sign up for a new edition of Hogares Verdes (Green Homes), a program by Fundación Vital.

Households in Vitoria-Gasteiz have the opportunity to transform their daily consumption habits thanks to the new edition of the Hogares Verdes program, promoted by Fundación Vital. This initiative offers 35 spots, and the pre-registration period will remain open until April 29. The goal is for participants to learn how to reduce their environmental impact by introducing practical changes in areas such as energy use, water consumption, waste management, mobility, and daily shopping.
The program will run from May to November, starting with an initial presentation. Each month, different aspects of domestic life will be addressed: in May, energy consumption; in June, water and waste; in September, sustainable mobility; and in October, conscious consumption. In November, the program's results will be presented.
This year's edition introduces two main novelties: a module focused on food waste, with diagnosis and a specific challenge, and a block on responsible textile consumption, aimed at promoting more rational use of clothing. Participants will receive an environmental audit of their home, technical monitoring, practical materials, and a savings and efficiency kit.
Additionally, the program will include small monthly challenges to apply changes in daily life, such as reducing stand-by consumption, shortening shower time, generating less waste at breakfast, or prioritizing local shopping. Technical visits will also be made to facilities related to waste, water, energy, and the circular economy, such as the Gardelegi landfill or the Sobrón Water Museum. This year, a visit to a winery with organic production and an integrated renewable energy system will also be added.
In addition to the activities reserved for selected families, the program will also offer proposals open to the general public, such as initiatives related to gardening, food, or environmental cleaning. According to data provided by Fundación Vital, approximately 3,700 people have participated in Hogares Verdes since 2015.
