The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) reached a total of 27,930 households in Euskadi in May, supporting 72,112 individuals. These figures represent 57 more benefits than in April (+0.20%) and 543 fewer than in the same month of 2025, a decrease of 1.91%, according to the latest statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).
The average benefit amount in the Basque Autonomous Community was 696.86 euros per month per household, exceeding the national average (538.7 euros). Per beneficiary, the average was 269.90 euros, again higher than the average amount in the rest of the State (176.63 euros). The IMV payroll amounted to 20.17 million euros in Euskadi, out of a total of over 500 million euros nationwide.
By territory, the IMV has reached 5,922 households in Álava, with 17,537 beneficiaries and an average amount of 716.96 euros per household. In Gipuzkoa, it reached 6,783 households, with 18,160 beneficiaries and an average of 667.44 euros. And in Bizkaia, it extended to 15,225 households, with 36,145 beneficiaries and an average of 702.15 euros.
Regarding the May payroll, Bizkaia leads in IMV amount with 11.1 million euros, followed by Gipuzkoa with 4.68 million, and Álava with 4.38 million euros. The ratio of beneficiaries per benefit in Euskadi in May was 2.58 (Álava 2.96; Gipuzkoa 2.68; and Bizkaia 2.39), while the national average stands at 3.05 people per benefit.
Of the total 27,930 IMV holders in Euskadi in May, 10,747 were men and 17,183 were women. Among those receiving the aid, 19,905 are Spanish nationals compared to 8,025 foreign nationals. Regarding beneficiaries in the Basque Country, 31,962 are men, 40,150 are women, 42,877 are adults, and 29,235 are minors.
In terms of age, the average age of holders in Euskadi is 47.6 years (45.6 years national average), while the average age of beneficiaries, excluding the main holder, is 18.7 years in Euskadi (20.17 in Spain).
Out of the 27,930 Basque households that received the benefit in May, 16,231 were single-parent households with dependent children. In 600 of these, there were three minors under the care of one adult, and in 147 households, there were more than three minors under the care of one adult.
Additionally, 15,591 Basque households received the Child Assistance Supplement (CAPI), with an average amount of 127.36 euros. This supplement enhances IMV coverage by providing additional support for each dependent child. In May, 597,878 households nationwide received it, with an average aid of 66.87 euros per minor and 121.7 euros per household with children. This benefit establishes different amounts based on age: 115 euros per month for children under 3 years old; 80.5 euros for those between 3 and 6 years old; and 57.5 euros for those between 6 and 18 years old.
