Iruña de Oca will commemorate its 50th anniversary as a municipality on July 2nd with an institutional event.

The municipality of Iruña de Oca will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 2nd. This date commemorates the creation of the municipality following the union of the former municipalities of Nanclares de la Oca and Iruña, a process approved by Royal Decree on July 2, 1976.
To mark this milestone, the City Council has organized a program of activities. The celebrations will begin on Thursday, July 2nd, at 11:00 AM, with an institutional ceremony in Lehendakari Agirre Park, officially commemorating the Municipality Day and the 50th anniversary.
Activities will continue on Friday, July 3rd, in the same park, featuring a musical set by Aitor García, a DJ from Los 40 Principales, from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM. On Saturday, July 4th, the celebration will include a dance session and popular festival in the Herriko Plaza in Nanclares.
On Sunday, July 5th, a family-oriented day will take place on Langraiz Avenue. An artisan market will be set up from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Concurrently, there will be a party with various activities and leisure options for children.

"When a new entity of this nature is born, it inherits the history of the towns that voluntarily decided to unite. Two neighboring municipalities, Iruña and Nanclares de la Oca, merged due to a lack of sufficient economic means to provide their services. That is the history. Iruña de Oca has been our present and also our future ever since."

Michel Montes · Mayor
Mayor Michel Montes encourages all residents of Iruña Oka to participate in these events and to "make their own a celebration that seeks to strengthen the pride of belonging to a young municipality that aims to be a benchmark in the province of Álava".
