The General Assemblies of Álava have organized a recognition event for May 7, aiming to honor over a hundred women politicians who have been part of the provincial institution throughout democratic history.

The event will take place at the historic seat of the Álava parliament, bringing together representatives from various political parties who have held seats. This tribute seeks to highlight the significant contribution of these women, acknowledging their presence and work within the provincial institution.
As reported by the General Assemblies, the initiative is promoted by the Equality Group of the General Assemblies and is part of the institution's Equality Plan. This reaffirms the commitment to equity, fostering female leadership and participation.
In the first legislature of democracy, in 1979, seven women were pioneers in taking office as procurators. Since then, more than 127 women from different political affiliations have taken over, solidifying female presence in the General Assemblies of Álava.
The meeting on May 7 will not be limited to a conventional recognition, as the General Assemblies have collaborated with the School of Arts and Crafts in an initiative that also brings together teachers and students. This adds an educational and artistic dimension to the event, valuing the legacy of women politicians.
