In Vitoria, an organizer of a pro-Palestine gathering held on October 15 last year has been fined 300 euros, following a question presented by the Elkarrekin Araba parliamentary group in the General Assemblies.

The Ertzaintza identified three individuals on October 15 last year, accusing them of being the conveners of two unannounced gatherings. It has now come to light that one of these individuals, whose identity has not been disclosed, received the aforementioned administrative sanction on March 31.
This information emerged from a question submitted by the Elkarrekin Araba parliamentary group to the General Assemblies. Instead of the Basque Parliament, they requested information on the matter from the Security Minister, Bingen Zupiria. Among other things, Elkarrekin asked for copies of the files related to both gatherings, as well as details on the complaints filed by the Ertzaintza on that day.

"How citizens can know which concentration has been communicated and which has not, and whether public authorities have allowed or not its development."

David Rodriguez · Spokesperson for Elkarrekin Araba
According to the parliamentary group's argument, the calls for these gatherings were disseminated in various media, and although not officially communicated, the authorities “allowed these meetings to proceed.” Therefore, spokesperson David Rodriguez has asked Zupiria “on what basis that person was reported as an organizer.”
