The number of fatalities on Álava's roads significantly increased in 2025, with a total of 17 people losing their lives, eight more than in 2024, positioning Álava as the territory with the highest rise in the Basque Country.

According to a recent report by the RACVN, Álava's roads recorded 17 fatalities in 2025, an increase of eight deaths compared to the previous year. This figure positions Álava as the Basque province with the highest growth in the number of road fatalities.
While the number of road deaths decreased nationwide, both the Basque Country and Navarre saw an increase compared to the previous year. Conventional roads continued to be the site of most accidents, and cars were the mode of transport with the highest number of fatalities across all analyzed territories. Men continued to account for more victims than women.
The most common profile in 2025 was a man involved in an accident while driving a car, either due to leaving the road or a head-on collision on a conventional road. Furthermore, on Sunday, April 12, alone, nine people were injured in two traffic accidents that occurred on Álava's roads.
